400-R 14.9oz Japanese Selvedge Denim Regular Straight
UES jeans are constructed as reproductions of vintage denim from the good old days, made with traditional manufacturing techniques with selvedge fabrics woven on vintage shuttle looms. The 400-R is their standard model, featuring a natural regular straight cut that achieves the look and feel of a vintage pair of raw denim, with a few minor modifications that modernize the fit and feel a little bit. The rise is slightly shorter than a pair of vintage jeans (which often had quite high rises), and the rear pockets are also a little smaller than a vintage example.
The denim is a UES original fabric, their 14.9oz brown cotton selvedge denim. This fabric is woven from a blend of bespoke and brown cotton yarns, which are spun together and then deeply rope-dyed in indigo to give the denim a darker indigo colour, and then finally woven into denim on vintage shuttle looms. The jeans themselves are sewn from colourfast cotton thread, which blends into the fabric at first, and then ages naturally over time in a way that nylon thread won't.
